A dilapidation report is a report on the condition of a property at a given point in time. It records any existing damage, and the state of any particular aspects of the property that are likely to be affected by construction work, excavation or demolition.
Sydney Building Inspections suggest you take a safety-first approach when constructing a property because there is potential for an adjoining property to claim that your building works caused damage to their property.
Alternatively, if building works are adjoining your property then a dilapidation report prior to construction commencing can protect you in any claim you could potentially make against those works adversely affecting your property.
